About Colourfields

Colourfields is a breeding, training and sales facility located in the rolling hills of Pennsylvania's Lancaster County. Here, surrounded by peaceful Amish farms, where often the clip-clop of a buggy is the only sound, Rick Clark and Babsi Neidhardt-Clark have found an ideal environment for raising and training horses.

The husband and wife team share a lifetime of experience with horses. Babsi is the farm's rider and trainer. With a strong background in three day eventing, dressage and show jumping, she is able to develop each horse to it's potential in the discipline which best suits its physical and mental abilities.

Rick, a farrier and lifelong rider helps with the daily business of running the farm and with the riding of the horses. Rick's background in driving horses, race horses and foxhunters adds to the diverse nature of Colourfields.

When Babsi and Rick married, they bought the land that became Colourfields. The farm takes its name from Babsi's exceptional horse, Colour My World, a Clydesdale-Appaloosa cross, who competed with Babsi at the Preliminary Jumpers, then evented at the Intermediate level until he became too old for such a strenuous sport. At that point, Babsi trained him to Grand Prix dressage. Now 29 years old,"Josh" lives in the open fields on Colourfields, where he is in charge of teaching the young horses the ways of the world. The diversity in Babsi's background is what enables her to compete at the FEI level in dressage at the same time that she is showing jumpers on the circuit.

Under the close supervision of Annie (aka "Pants-on-fire"), their Australian Cattle Dog and a herd of "lucky" calico cats, Colourfields' operation has grown steadily since Rick and Babsi built the facility in 1993.

Today, the Clarks' main focus is training and showing and their Dutch Warmblood stallion, Johnson. In addition, Babsi makes several trips each year to Holland scouting for talented event, dressage or jumper prospects for her clients. They always have horses for sale, both offspring of Johnson and competitive dressage horses and jumpers.
